Our Services

We offer therapy for individuals struggling in relationship(s), experiencing stress, depression and/or anxiety, reliving past trauma, grieving a loss, wanting to explore their identity or simply wanting to learn more about themselves.

At Newport Psychotherapy, the therapist will work together with you to explore your inner life and help you develop more clarity about yourself, your choices in life and your relationship dynamics. Ultimately, you will gain a new understanding of yourself; a self that is more integrated, has more self agency, and is more able to truly connect with others in a meaningful and fulfilling way. In addition; your therapist will provide tools for daily struggles, effective strategies for creating healthier habits, and critical skills for living your best life now.

Adolescents are struggling with the delicate balance between child and adulthood; they are eager to discover independence and are fearful to separate from their safety net. Here at Newport Psychotherapy, we understand this inner struggle and provide teens with a space to openly explore themselves and provide containment for them to feel safe and seen. Psychologists, teens and parents will work together, to help them develop tools to regulate their emotions, increase self confidence, strengthen their resilience and build effective strategies for dealing with struggles in their lives.

Parent Consultation

Being a parent often comes with a whirlwind of emotions. We love our children immensely and they can also be a poignant trigger point. At Newport Psychotherapy our approach is 2-Fold: We provide parents the tools to communicate effectively with your child, reduce daily struggles and help you create a healthy space for your child to grow & thrive. Oftentimes, parents relate to their children based on their past trauma and not on the present needs of their children. Therefore, parent consultation at Newport Psychotherapy also integrates working through parents’ personal experiences and trauma to relieve them from reliving these experiences through their children. To learn to parent our children based on their needs and not based on our own is to learn to parent intentionally and effectively.

A couple is a combination of three parts; two individuals and the dynamic they create. At Newport Psychotherapy we work on all three components; couples will have the opportunity to learn how to better their relationship with their partner, themselves, and other relationships in their lives. In therapy, you will learn about the deepest parts of yourself and your partner; and have a space to feel truly seen by your partner. In this process, you will develop strategies to replace unhealthy dynamics with positive ones; rebuild respect, affection, trust and intimacy and create shared goals and values.

Selective mutism is a complex anxiety disorder that mainly affects children but can persist into adulthood if untreated. Those with selective mutism can speak but struggle to do so in anxiety-inducing situations, leading to challenges in school, social life, and daily activities. Treatment often involves a collaborative effort among mental health experts, educators, and families to boost confidence, ease anxiety, and promote verbal communication, highlighting the importance of understanding and support for individuals to overcome this condition and express themselves effectively.
